Respite Care is in-home care that is designed to give people who care for their own family members a break. Usually care is provided only for people who are in a situation where caring for a family member is a full time commitment.
The amount of care that is provided will depend upon the home health organization sponsoring the client. Usually this amounts to a twenty-four to forty-eight hour period per month.
Most of the Respite Care that Care For People has been involved with has been done for Mental Health/Mental Retardation. To find out more about what Respite Care is available in your area you should contact your local Area Agency on Aging office.
Respite Care takes very dedicated people who can spend twenty-four to forty-eight hours away from their own home. There are some situations whereby the caregiver can do Respite Care in their personal residence.
Care For People fees for respite care are the same as the normal live-in care in the area served.
