Q. Do I have to sign an agreement that obligates me for a required amount of time?
A. No, your agreement with Care For People can be canceled at any time but cannot be canceled without 48-hours notice to Care For People.
Q. I would like to be a caregiver for Care For People. When do I have to work?
A. At Care For People you select the times you wish to work and can cancel your hours at any time but Care For People requires 48 hours to find a replacement.
Q. How much do I get paid?
A. You set your own wages. Your agreement with Care For People will ask what you expect to get paid and we will refer you to clients who pay at least that much.
Q. Can I work for different agencies at the same time?
A. I know of agencies that do not permit you to work for other other agencies. We have no rule that forbids it and the IRS doesn't allow agencies like ours to limit where you can work.
Q. Do I have to give my caregivers a 1099 at the end of the year?
A. If you want to deduct the payments as an expense on your tax form, you should give them a 1099. This is one way of having tangible proof of
your expense. We generally recommend doing 1099's for caregivers
earning $600 or more during any calendar year though it is not required
by the IRS.
Q. Who decides who will work for me?
A. You and only you.
Q. If I don't like a caregiver, can I get another one?
A. Like the previous question, you make the decisions.
Q. Can you assure me that your caregivers are honest?
A. Nobody knows who all the criminals are and many have never been caught. The best way to protect your assets is to keep them out of reach of all people who enter your home.
Q. Are your caregivers bonded?
A. No, we can only buy a bond on people who work for us. The caregivers work for you. Have I ever suggested that a client do bonding? No, I wouldn't buy a bond if I were in your shoes. People who sell the idea of bonding caregivers use it as a sales tool only.
