In 1987 Mr. Knupp worked as an optician. For thirty years he went through life one day at a time without knowing a reason for my existance. One day he had enough and quit. A friend of his offered him the opportunity to help a ninty-three year old gentleman live a somewhat normal life. At first he said, "No" for all the good reasons such as : "I don't know anything about taking care of someone." or "I don't like being around sick people."

Eventually he quit arguing and gave in. It didn't take long for him to discover he was having more fun than he had in years. His new friend and his family enjoyed his six-month stay until his death.  Even today he still receive a Christmas card from each of the four children.

After Mr Tenbrook died, Mr. Knupp decided to open an in-home care agency in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. During his years of ownership of Care For People, many people have inquired about opening a Care For People office in various areas. Many have been unsuccessful for they really didn't have the drive or personality needed to be successful. Today Mr. Knupp no longer takes on just anyone who is interested in being a Director for he now charges a fee and has no intention of allowing people to fail.

          AN ODE TO CARE

When I was but a small child, My Mother cared for me.

Along came the age of puberty, And no one cared for me.

Then at twenty-one I was on my own, And it was only me who cared for me.

By thirty-five I owed the world, And had a spouse who cared for me.

At fifty-five I owed Uncle Sam, For it was I who cared for me.

By sixty-five it was time to retire, But there is no one to care for me.

In older years I was sick and depressed, And CARE FOR PEOPLE cared for me.

So when in need of someone who cares,

Call  1-800-322-9292

Richard W. Knupp, Sr.
